Julie Clark McKinney, MA, APR, is the Vice President of People & Places at REV Birmingham since July 2017, where responsibilities include designing and implementing programs in the Downtown and Woodlawn districts and leading communication strategies to articulate the organization’s vision and goals. Previously, Julie served as the Director of Communications at REV, focusing on strategies to enhance messaging and create vibrant commercial districts. Julie's experience includes a role as Graduate School Communications and Events Specialist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where communication with graduate students and event organization were key responsibilities, along with teaching a course on professional image management. Earlier roles at AL.com involved community engagement and editorial design, complemented by journalism experience at The Auburn Plainsman and The Randolph Leader. Julie holds a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Auburn University.

REV is a place-based revitalization agency and economic development nonprofit working to make the city of Birmingham a more vibrant place. REV stimulates business growth and improves quality of life in Birmingham’s City Center and Neighborhood Commercial Centers. REV fuels commercial vitality through proactive business recruitment and retention activities, and by encouraging private and public investments that support economic growth citywide. REV’s initiatives generate positive results for partners, enhance tax revenue, generate and sustain jobs, increase tourism and positively influence perceptions about the City of Birmingham. REV is a public-private partnership formed in 2012 by the strategic merger of Operation New Birmingham and Main Street Birmingham.
