Mark Turfler

Mark Turfler is the current Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at RF Industries. Prior to their current position, Mark served as the Director of Corporate Accounting at Ligand Pharmaceuticals from 2006 to 2009. In this role, Mark reported directly to the CFO and was a member of both the audit and disclosure committees. Their responsibilities included all financial functions, such as financial reporting, general accounting, cost accounting, and tax. Additionally, Mark directed quarterly and annual audits and prepared all filings with the SEC.

During their time at Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Mark made significant contributions to the company. Mark researched and generated whitepapers on complex financial reporting issues, such as revenue recognition, that resulted in the successful resolution of these issues and a clean audit opinion. Mark also successfully integrated and transitioned the accounting and finance functions and systems for an acquired company in advance of a tight management timeline.

In addition, Mark designed and consolidated the finance department responsibilities while incorporating best practices in compliance with SOX, resulting in a 40% reduction of staffing needs. Mark also directed the company’s SOX efforts, which resulted in the resolution of eight material weaknesses and numerous significant deficiencies, as well as a clean audit opinion. Finally, they reengineered the receivable review and collection processes, which resulted in the collection of $1M on previously written off receivables.
