Michael West

Michael West is an experienced human resources professional with a substantial background in senior HR management roles. Currently serving as the General Manager of HR for Iron Ore at Rio Tinto since November 2014, Michael has previously held various significant positions within the company, including General Manager HR for DSL, ERA, Argyle, and Coal, as well as HR Manager for Argyle Diamonds, Dampier Salt, and ERA. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Michael worked at BHP Billiton in senior HR management roles from June 2007 to November 2014, and held the HR Manager position at Iluka Resources from 2005 to 2007. Michael's HR experience also includes a tenure at The Australian Red Cross Blood Service from August 1996 to June 2005. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Labor and Industrial Relations from The University of Western Australia and a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, specializing in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from Curtin University.
