Rise Up
Denise Raquel Dunning, PhD, is a dedicated leader in global health and education, currently serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Rise Up since 2009, an organization that has positively impacted the lives of 7 million girls, youth, and women through advocacy for health and equity. In addition to this role, Dunning is a lecturer at the University of California and UCSF Global Health Masters Program, and has contributed as a board member for various organizations, including the Public Health Institute and EngenderHealth. Dunning's previous experience includes significant roles at the Public Health Institute and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, complemented by a robust academic background with a PhD and MA in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley, an MPA from Princeton University, and a BA from Duke University.
