Heike Schmitt is a seasoned researcher with extensive experience in public health and environmental science. Currently serving as Principal Investigator for antibiotic resistance in the environment at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment since March 2016, Schmitt also holds the position of Professor at Delft University of Technology since April 2022. In addition, Schmitt contributes as an advisor for the source separated sanitation theme at WETSUS since January 2017 and has been an Assistant Professor at IRAS, Utrecht University since May 2005. Schmitt began the academic journey as a PhD candidate at RIVM’s Laboratory for Ecological Risk Assessment from 2003 to 2005.
