Sohana Singh, PhD, is a Data Visualization Specialist at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment since January 2023, focusing on developing optimization algorithms and API development for agricultural applications. Previously, Sohana worked as a Consultant Scientific Programmer and Scientific Programmer at the South African Sugarcane Research Institute, where projects included upgrading a sugarcane crop yield model and optimizing fertilizer applications. Earlier experience at the Oceanographic Research Institute involved applying next-generation sequencing to estimate marine biodiversity and conducting bioinformatics research during doctoral studies on the genetic variation of a lobster species. Sohana holds a PhD in Biology with a focus on Genetics, as well as a Master of Science, Bachelor of Science Honours, and Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Microbiology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
