Sonja Garcia - Perez

Sonja Garcia - Perez is an experienced Physical Education Teacher at Rocketship Public Schools since September 2021. In addition to this role, Sonja serves the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium. Previous experience includes over two decades as a Swim Coach and Instructor at De Anza Cupertino Aquatics, and roles as a Peer Mentor and Volunteer at Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) from 2017 to 2019. Sonja has also completed internships with the Monterey County Juvenile Hall and the San Jose Police Department, focusing on juvenile justice and public safety. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with an emphasis on Criminology from San Jose State University and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Evergreen Valley College.
