Rob Farthing has a broad range of work experience in the technology field. Rob started their career at Detica as a Consultant Data Analyst, where they worked with a team to analyze customer data in the banking and insurance sectors. Rob utilized SAS for ETL processes and customized software packages for fraud detection.

Afterward, Rob joined Microsoft as a Consultant, specializing in infrastructure solutions. Rob was responsible for scoping, designing, and implementing networking, storage, virtualization, configuration management, and security solutions for clients. This involved conducting workshops, creating designs, and documentation.

Following their time at Microsoft, Rob joined Deliveroo. Rob initially worked as a Software Engineer on the Logistics Algorithms team, where they developed high-throughput, fault-tolerant applications using Rust, Go, and Ruby. Rob gained experience in productionizing machine learning models. Subsequently, Rob progressed to the role of Senior Software Engineer and then Staff Software Engineer.

Currently, Rob is a Software Engineer at Rodeo, starting in 2023.

Rob Farthing completed their Master in Science (MSci) in Physics from Imperial College London from 2007 to 2011. Rob then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science from UCL in 2016 to 2017. Prior to their university education, Rob Farthing attended Tadcaster Grammar School from 2000 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained a certification in Microsoft-INSEAD Online Business Strategy and Financial Acumen with Distinction from INSEAD Executive Education in October 2015.
