Gareth Oakes has extensive work experience as a data and integration architect, specifically focusing on Azure and Microsoft data platforms. Gareth is currently employed as the Lead Data & Integration Architect at Rolls-Royce SMR since August 2022. Prior to this role, Gareth worked as a Senior Azure Data & Integration Architect at Xpedition from August 2021 to August 2022. From 2017 to 2021, they held various positions at Agilisys, starting as the MS Data & Analytics Platform Team Manager and later transitioning to the role of Senior MS Data Platform Engineer. Before that, Gareth worked as the SQL Development Team Manager at Arrow Global Group Plc in 2017. Gareth also gained experience as a Senior SQL Server DBA & BI Technical Lead at dnata from 2014 to 2016, a Database Development DBA at bet365 in 2013, and a Senior SQL Server DBA at Thomas Cook from 2010 to 2013. Gareth began their career as an IT Administrator/Junior DBA at Flex in 2006 and has since worked in various roles as a SQL Server DBA, primarily specializing in database administration and management.

Gareth Oakes holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computing from Liverpool John Moores University. In terms of certifications, they have obtained multiple certifications from Microsoft, including the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, and MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration. Gareth has also completed various exams related to Microsoft Azure and SQL database administration.
