Shane McHugh

Shane McHugh serves as the Associate Director of Engineering Diplomacy and Head of International Partnerships at The Royal Academy of Engineering since January 2008. McHugh leads a team of 17, focusing on the development of international partnerships to enhance the global presence of the UK engineering profession, managing significant collaborations including a £15m partnership with Lloyd's Register Foundation and Engineering X, and fostering new alliances with countries such as the US, Europe, India, Japan, and China. Previous roles include international policy advisor and part-time secondment at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, as well as serving as Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of Ireland and International Officer for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment in Ireland. McHugh holds a Master of Arts in German Language and Literature from Trinity College Dublin.
