Nick Teall has over 25 years of work experience, with their most recent position being Deputy CIO and Head of Product Management and Biodiversity Informatics at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew since September 2013. Prior to this, they were the Head of IS Strategy and Information Services at Defra from June 2006 to August 2013. Before that, they served as the Head of Business Relationship Management at Rural Payments Agency from 2004 to 2006. Their earliest known role was as the Director of Knowledge Management at World Conservation Monitoring Centre from 1995 to April 2000.

Nick Teall has a Bachelor's Degree in Zoology, including Botany, Ecology, Statistics, and Computing from Royal Holloway, University of London. Nick also holds a Master's Degree in Biological Computation from the University of York. Additionally, they have a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from The Open University.
