Prior to this role, Carlos held a position as a Professor of Internal Medicine and Pulmonology at Universidad del Norte from January 1989 to December 1999, where responsibilities included teaching and coordinating the internal medicine service. Carlos Eduardo Jaramillo Posada earned a degree in Internal Medicine with a specialization in Pulmonary Disease from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, after obtaining a degree in General Medicine from Universidad del Norte.
