John Camilleri-Brennan has a diverse and extensive work experience. John began their career in 2006 at NHS Forth Valley as a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon. During their time there, they also took on the role of Lead Clinician for Colorectal Cancer and Colorectal Cancer Screening, as well as Clinical and Educational Supervisor of Postgraduate Surgical Trainees.
In 2010, John joined the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. John held various positions within the College, including Vice President (Surgical), Associate Director of Surgical Examinations, Member of the College Council, and Surgical Regional Advisor and College Tutor. Notably, they have been serving as Vice President (Surgical) since December 2022.
Alongside their roles at the college and NHS, John has also been involved with the University of Glasgow. John held the positions of Honorary Clinical Associate Professor from September 2017 onwards and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Surgery from 2006 to September 2017.
Overall, John Camilleri-Brennan has demonstrated their expertise and dedication in the field of surgery through their numerous roles in both healthcare and academic institutions.
John Camilleri-Brennan holds an undergraduate degree, Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), from the University of Malta. John also obtained postgraduate research doctorate, Doctor of Medicine (MD), in Clinical Research on Rectal Cancer from the University of Dundee. Additionally, they have completed the FRCSGlas and FRCSGenSurg degrees from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.

Many of us give our time freely to develop curricula, set exam questions, and contribute to the development of good health policy. Each year our members volunteer thousands of hours of their collective time to work in partnership with our college staff to develop and deliver relevant, meaningful and inspirational support to other members and prospective members at every stage of their career.
