João Alberto Fernandez de Abreu graduated with a degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC/RJ), with an MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral. Beto Abreu worked for 18 years at Shell, holding various retail positions in several countries. He started his career at Raízen Energia as Executive Commercial Director and member of the Board of Petróleo Sabbá, an affiliate of Raízen in Northern Brazil. In 2012 he became director of Bioenergy and Technology for Raízen's Ethanol, Sugar and Bioenergy business. Two years later, he took over the Agroindustrial Executive Board. Currently, Beto Abreu is the CEO of Rumo, elected in 2019. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Iogen Energy.
