Solid-State batteries have already shown 2-3 times the battery life visa vie Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) batteries.  Solid-State is also unburdened by the safety and reliability concerns of Lithium-Ion. You can smash our Solid-State batteries and never be in danger or at risk of an explosion. Unfortunately, this technology comes at a premium (3-5 times the price of Li-Ion).

Why are Solid-State batteries so expensive?  Many of the techniques and materials used in solid-state batteries require a controlled atmosphere to function. This necessitates slow, batch processing that becomes exceedingly expensive at high volume.
