Michael Augelli has extensive work experience in the medical technology industry. Michael started their career as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at 454 Life Sciences, where they later became a Mechanical Engineer and then a Mechanical Engineering Contractor. In 2013, they joined SURGIQUEST as a Design Engineer and eventually became a Senior Design Engineer. In 2018, they moved to Biomedical Innovations, where they worked as a Project Manager for two years. Currently, they are employed at SafeHeal, starting as the Director of Product Development and later assuming the role of Senior Director of Product Development.
Michael Augelli earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University College of Engineering in 2009. Michael then went on to pursue a Masters of Science degree in Engineering, specializing in Biomechanics and Biomaterials, at Yale University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences from 2010 to 2014.

SafeHeal is the first company created and incubated by MD Start, a medtech accelerator developing innovative medical devices based on inventions from physicians. It is currently funded by MD Start and Sofinnova Partners.SafeHeal is laureate of the Worldwide Innovation Challenge 2015 edition (Concours Mondial de l’Innovation - Phases 1 and 2) andof the iLab grant program, which foster talent and bring out future champions of the French economy.SafeHeal was also elected as the most promising and innovative investor conference MedTech start-up at Biovision 2016, was a finalist for the global Medtech Innovator 2016 competition.Finally, SafeHeal is a 2016 recipient of the Charles Foix grant which rewards innovations aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly people.
