Denise Atherley has a diverse work experience. Denise started their career in 2009 as a Sales Associate at Macy's and later worked as a Sales Associate at The North Face. In 2012, they worked as a Call Center Representative at NYC 311, providing customer service and assisting callers with inquiries.

Denise also established integrations with third-party tools to enhance functionality. In 2018, they took on the role of Director of Data Strategy Initiatives, contributing to the organization's data strategy.
Denise Atherley completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology from Lehman College between 2009 and 2013. Prior to that, they attended Aquinas High School from 2005 to 2009, where they earned an Advanced Regents Diploma in College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program.
Additionally, Denise holds two additional certifications. In December 2017, they obtained the Salesforce Certified Administrator certification from Salesforce. In June 2023, they obtained the Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US) certification from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.

SAGE is the country's largest and oldest organization dedicated to improving the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ+) older adults. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in New York City, SAGE is a national organization that offers supportive services and consumer resources to LGBTQ+ older adults and their caregivers, advocates for public policy changes that address the needs of LGBTQ+ older people, provides education and technical assistance for aging providers and LGBTQ+ organizations through its National Resource Center on LGBT Aging, and cultural competence training through SAGECare. With staff located across the country, SAGE also coordinates SAGENet, a growing network of affiliates in the United States.
