William Poats

William Poats is currently the Lieutenant of Security at the St. Louis Zoo North Campus and has been with the Saint Louis Zoo since April 2015, initially serving as Security Sergeant and now as Zoo Rangers. Prior to their current roles, William worked as a Police Officer at the St Louis City Metropolitan Police Department for over 25 years, retiring from the Traffic Safety Division in January 2015. In their current position, William supervises both full and part-time Rangers and personnel, reviews reports, and assigns duties during special events at the zoo.
