David B. Kirk

David B. Kirk has served as a Director since July 2025. David B. Kirk is an independent consultant, investor, philanthropist, and advisor, serving on several nonprofit boards and focusing recently on computer science education, parallel programming, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Kirk previously served as Chief Scientist, VP of Architecture, and later as a Fellow at NVIDIA, where he contributed extensively to parallel computing, graphics hardware, and graphics algorithms, and holds nearly 100 patents in these areas. He was honored with the 2002 Computer Graphics Achievement Award from ACM SIGGRAPH, elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006, and received Caltech’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. Dr. Kirk earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from Caltech, with a minor in Computation and Neural Systems, and holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
