Pat Helland

Pat Helland is a seasoned software architect with extensive experience in cloud-based technologies and distributed systems. Currently serving as a Software Architect at salesforce.com since March 2012, Pat focuses on multi-tenanted file system and database technology. Prior roles include significant contributions at Microsoft from March 2007 to September 2011, where responsibilities included architecting Cosmos for Bing and leading projects within the SQL Architecture team. Pat held the position of Senior Principal Engineer at Amazon.com from March 2005 to March 2007, specializing in distributed services and storage systems. Earlier career experience includes positions at Tandem Computers and BTI Computer Systems, with foundational roles in software architecture and engineering. Pat Helland was inducted into the UC Irvine ICS Inaugural Hall of Fame in 2015.
