Neil Mathers

Neil Mathers is an experienced leader in the humanitarian and social services sectors, currently serving as the Executive Director of Scotland for Samaritans since September 2022. Prior to this role, Neil held the position of Chief Executive at Curiosity Collective from September 2017 to September 2022 and served as Deputy Chair of the Scottish Government Humanitarian Emergency Fund from December 2017 to December 2019. Neil's extensive experience with Save the Children UK includes roles as Head of Scotland, Acting Director of UK Programmes, and Head of Programmes Scotland between April 2012 and August 2017. Other notable positions include Service Manager at CHILDREN 1ST, Programme Coordinator at VSO, and Coordinator at Wester Hailes Youth Agency. Neil began a career in social services as a Counselling and Community Support Worker with Barnardos Scotland. Educational qualifications include a BA in Community Education from Northern College of Education and PG Certificates in Counselling Approaches from Heriot-Watt University and Social Services Leadership from Robert Gordon University.
