Sarasota Opera
Rick Basehore is a highly accomplished oboist with extensive experience across multiple orchestras and ensembles. Currently serving as Principal Oboist for the Reading Symphony Orchestra since November 2023, Rick also holds positions as English Horn / Oboe III with both the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and The Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Oboist with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra. Additional roles include Second Oboist / English Horn for the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and Principal Oboist for the Sarasota Opera. Previously, Rick was Principal Oboist for the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and served as Co-Principal Oboist with "The President's Own" United States Marine Band. Rick's educational background includes a Master of Music in Oboe Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
