Sarushen Pillay has extensive work experience in the energy and environmental sectors. Sarushen started their career as a Senior Process Engineer at Sasol in 2006 and worked their way up to various leadership roles, including Vice President of Environmental and Acting Vice President of Technology Management & IP. Sarushen also served as the Coal and Environmental Technology Manager before becoming the Senior Vice President of Energy Strategy and Sustainability in 2023. Prior to Sasol, Pillay worked as an Environmental Engineer at Digby Wells Environmental and as a Researcher and Consultant at the University of KwaZulu-Natal - Pollution Research Group.
Sarushen Pillay completed a Bsc Eng (Chemical) degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2000, followed by a PhD Eng degree, also at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, which was completed in 2006.
