Derek P. has a diverse and extensive work experience in various engineering and management roles. Derek currently holds the position of VP of Research and Development at SciCan since January 2019. Prior to that, they served as the VP of Engineering at Vishay Precision Group Canada ULC (KELK) from December 2013 to January 2019. Derek also worked as the Director of Engineering at Natus Medical from October 2012 to November 2013.
In addition, Derek P. has experience in directorial roles at PCAS Patient Care Automation Services Inc. (makers of the PharmaTrust MedCentre) and GE Healthcare. At PCAS, they served as the Director of NPI and Manufacturing from January 2012 to June 2012, where they were responsible for introducing new products into production and managing engineering changes. Derek contributed significantly to building out the production within the first quarter and implementing Lean manufacturing principles. At GE Healthcare, they held the position of Director of Engineering from April 2009 to October 2011.
Their earlier experience includes working as the Senior Manager of NPI, Advance Manufacturing & Test at Harris BCD from March 2006 to April 2009. Derek also held multiple roles at GE Multilin, including Program Manager from June 2003 to March 2006, Six Sigma Black Belt from November 2002 to February 2005, Embedded Systems Design Engineer from August 2001 to November 2002, and Product Support Engineer from July 1999 to August 2001.
Overall, Derek P. has demonstrated expertise in research and development, engineering, manufacturing, NPI, and supply chain management throughout their career.
Derek P. completed their B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering at Ryerson University in 1999. In addition to their degree, Derek P. has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In October 2002, they obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from General Electric, followed by a Six Sigma Black Belt certification in November 2004. Derek P. then acquired a P.Eng certification from the Professional Engineers of Ontario in October 2011. Most recently, in January 2019, they obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera.
