Kelly Makimoto

Vice President, Quality Assurance & Regulatory Affairs at COLTENE SciCan

Kelly Makimoto has a diverse and extensive work experience. Kelly started their career at SciCan in 1991, where they held various roles including Director of Operations, Operations Manager, Materials Manager, and Industrial Engineer until 2005. Kelly then became the Vice President of Operations, and later the Chief Operating Officer (COO) from 2013 to 2015, overseeing the overall operations of a 120,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. From 2015 to 2019, Kelly served as the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at SciCan, where they played a crucial role in understanding and complying with changing regulations and market restrictions. In 2019, they joined Medtech Canada as a Board Member, working with other senior leaders to further the interests of the membership and the industry. Additionally, Kelly has also contributed to the community as the President of the Board at Frontenac Youth Services from 2011 to 2014, and as a Board Member from 2003 to 2011.

Kelly Makimoto's education history begins in 1987 when they enrolled at Ryerson University. Kelly completed their Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial Engineering in 1991. In 2001, Kelly attended the Ivey Business School at Western University, where they focused on Competitive Excellence through Operations. In 2015, they pursued further education at RAPS Online University, where they earned a Regulatory Affairs Certificate in Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, in the same year, Kelly obtained the RAPS Member certification from the Regulatory Affairs Certification Program.
