Miriam Karinja is a highly experienced professional in the fields of epidemiology, research, and program management, currently serving as a Senior Program Officer at the Science for Africa Foundation since September 2023. Prior roles include Research, Data and Analytics Consultant at the World Food Programme and Flying Epidemiologist for Médecins Sans Frontières from January 2021 to January 2022. Miriam has also held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Edinburgh and the University of Nairobi Institute for Tropical & Infectious Diseases, and as a Research Fellow/Project Manager at the Center for Research in Therapeutic Science. With a PhD in Epidemiology from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, alongside a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology from Stellenbosch University, a Post Graduate Diploma in HIV/AIDS Management, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology, Miriam possesses a strong academic foundation that complements extensive work experience across various institutions, including Novartis and Coca-Cola Sabco.
