Joel Hwee

Joel Hwee is a skilled Robotics Engineer at Sciton, focusing on the development of automated laser and light-based treatments since July 2021. Prior to this role, Joel served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington, where significant contributions included constructing a soft robot for medical applications and collaborating with surgeons on various medical device projects. Experience also includes mechanical systems engineering with the World Ventilator Foundation, designing an exhalation valve for ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic, and several internships that enhanced expertise in machine design, mechanical testing, and R&D projects. Joel holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University.
