Mike Nielsen currently serves as the Executive Director of Corporate and Continuing Education at Seattle Colleges since March 2025. Previously, Mike held roles at Green River College from February 2014 to March 2025, including Director of Corporate and Continuing Education and Training and Delivery Manager. Prior experience includes serving as the Training and Safety Manager at Skills Inc. from July 2010 to February 2014. Mike holds a Master of Education in Adult and Higher Education from Western Washington University and two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Geography and Anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The Seattle Colleges District is a group of colleges. It consists of three colleges north seattle college, seattle central college, south seattle college, and the seattle vocational institute. It educates more than 45,000 students each year. The curriculum has led the way as the puget sound area moved from a manufacturing and resource based economyto an information based economy. They provide courses for art, design, and graphics, business and accounting, education and human services, health and medical, culinary, hospitality and wine, science, technology, engineering, and math stem, skilled trades, technical training, and social science, humanities and language.
