Feargal O'Connell is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in leadership roles within humanitarian organizations. Currently serving as a Board Member at Irish Emergency Alliance and Chief Executive Officer at Self Help Africa since April 2023, O'Connell previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Sightsavers Ireland from December 2020 to March 2023. O'Connell's career also includes significant roles at the International Rescue Committee as Country Director and an interim Regional Director at Concern Worldwide. With a strong foundation in program management and emergency response, O'Connell has contributed to various capacities at Concern Worldwide and began a career in the nonprofit sector as an intern at Front Line Defenders. O'Connell holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Security and Development from the University of Leeds and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Sociology from University College Dublin.
