George Jacob

Head Of Communications at Self Help Africa

George Jacob has a diverse work experience spanning several years. George started their career as a cub reporter with People Newspapers in 1983, working their way up to Assistant Editor before transferring to Wicklow and Bray. In 1999, they founded and became the Director of Bray Jazz Festival, a highly acclaimed international jazz festival. In 1997, they took on the role of Event Organiser, organizing and managing the Dublin Media Night event for two consecutive years. Since 2003, they have been the Head of Communications at Self Help Africa, an Irish based INGO working towards ending poverty and promoting economic growth in sub-Saharan Africa through agriculture.

George Jacob attended Newtown School in Waterford from 1974 to 1980. After completing their secondary education, they enrolled at Technological University Dublin from 1981 to 1983 to pursue a degree in Journalism.
