Dave was born in Trail in 1964 and moved to Vancouver in 1983 to start an electrical apprenticeship. He completed his apprenticeship in 1988 and holds a Red Seal certification and a “B” level contractor licence. In 1999, he along with his wife Crystal and daughter Kelsea, moved back to Trail to start up Raves Restaurant.

In 2005, Dave started his teaching career at Selkirk College and holds an Instructor Diploma Certification from Vancouver Community College and is a recent NISOD award recipient. Dave presently teaches all four years of the Electrical Apprenticeship program at Selkirk College in Nelson. He is the chair of the BCGEU 709 Bargaining Committee, co-chair of the Nelson JOHS Committee and vice chair of the BCGEU 709 Executive.

His hobbies include skiing, trying to play the bass guitar, water sports at Christina Lake, motorcycling in the beautiful Kootenays and he has recently been promoted to Grampa status.
