Viqar Basheer has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Viqar started their career as the Director of Information Systems at Hunter Manufacturing, where they developed strategic and tactical information systems plans and oversaw infrastructure and application development. Viqar then moved on to Columbia Gas Transmission, where they held roles as a Senior IT Project Manager and Lead IT Project Manager. In these positions, they managed large projects focusing on process reengineering, system design, and construction. Viqar also mentored junior project managers and implemented new business processes and IT solutions. Next, they joined NiSource as a Lead OCIO Analyst, where they provided management consultant services and developed strategies for enterprise-wide networking and change management. Lastly, they worked at Sempra Energy as a Senior Information Systems Auditor and IT Project Lead. In these roles, they performed detailed audit procedures, led consulting audits, and managed various IT programs and projects.
Viqar Basheer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Kentucky, where they studied from 1981 to 1986. Viqar later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from the University of Maryland Global Campus, completing their studies from 1999 to 2001.
