Matt Cummings

Matt Cummings is an experienced educator and leader with a robust background in community engagement, student services, and public education advocacy. Currently serving on the Virginia Beach School Board to represent District Seven, Matt advocates for enhanced resources in public education. Recent roles include Team Coordinator at Sentara Health and Assistant Vice President of Community and Alumni Engagement at Southern New Hampshire University, where significant programs for alumni were developed. Matt's previous experience spans leadership positions at Kenzie Academy, DePauw University, Carson-Newman University, and AmeriCorps, showcasing a commitment to student development and social justice initiatives. Matt holds a Master of Arts in Urban Studies and Community Development from Eastern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies/Affairs from Johnson University.
