Chris Atkinson started their work experience in 1995 as a Technology Support Engineer at United Parcel Service. Chris then transitioned to software engineering, working as a Software Engineer at SEP from March 1997 to May 1999. Chris then progressed to the role of Project Manager at SEP from June 1999 to December 2004. From January 2005 to December 2008, they held the position of Engineering Manager at SEP. Chris then advanced to become the VP of Engineering at SEP from January 2009 until the present. In 2014, they also became the Chairman of the Board at AgileIndy, a position they held until February 2019.

Chris Atkinson attended Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis from 1989 to 1993, where they pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Software Engineering.
