Rutger van der Zanden

Rutger van der Zanden currently serves as the Commercial Lead for Industrial Electrification at Shell since May 2023. Prior to this role, Rutger was a Manager for Energy Transformation at WBCSD from April 2020 to March 2023, focusing on corporate decarbonization and the energy transition through multi-stakeholder initiatives. Rutger's experience also includes working as a Lead Consultant and Business Development Manager at Ameresco between January 2015 and April 2020, where responsibilities included business development and third-party financed energy solutions, as well as project management for key accounts. Rutger began career in the energy sector as a Senior Analyst at EnergyExcel and as an Analyst at Bloomberg New Energy Finance. Academic qualifications include an MSc in European Public Policy from UCL and two BAs in American Studies from Saint Louis University and the University of Groningen, along with secondary education in science subjects from Montessori Lyceum Herman Jordan.
