Jonathan Gootenberg

Jonathan Gootenberg is a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School, serving as Co-Director of the Abudayyeh-Gootenberg Lab since November 2023. In addition, Jonathan holds the position of Investigator at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and is a co-founder and board member at Tome Biosciences, as well as a co-founder at Sherlock Biosciences. Prior to these roles, Jonathan was a McGovern Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from January 2019 to November 2023 and completed a PhD in Systems Biology at Harvard University from 2013 to 2018. Jonathan's research experience includes working as a graduate student at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard from May 2014 to January 2019, focusing on molecular tool development for diagnostics, therapeutics, and basic science under the mentorship of Feng Zhang and Aviv Regev. Jonathan earned a Bachelor's degree in Biological Engineering and Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2013.
