John Carpenter

John Carpenter is an accomplished legal professional currently serving as the Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Shimmick Construction since August 2023. Prior to this role, John held the position of Chief Legal Officer at Balfour Beatty US from January 2017 to August 2023, where responsibilities included serving as lead legal counsel on complex infrastructure and construction project delivery, administration, and dispute resolution. John also served as Assistant General Counsel at Kiewit from March 1994 to December 2017. John earned a Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law (1987-1990) and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with a focus on International Trade and Politics from the University of California, Berkeley (1985-1987). John is also an alumnus of Laguna Beach High School.
