Gene Pao has a diverse background in the media and entertainment industry. Gene started their career at Disney and ESPN Media Networks, where they worked as an Executive Director, responsible for deal negotiation strategies and new business development efforts. Gene then joined Fox Interactive Media as a Vice President, overseeing marketing, new business development, ad sales, and creative services for local station websites. Gene later moved to Fox Sports and FUEL TV, where they served as VP of New Media and International Development, overseeing digital and international businesses. Gene also had a role as an Action Sports Consultant at YouTube. In 2012, Gene joined NBC Sports Group and Golf Channel as Vice President of Marketing, responsible for various digital initiatives. Gene later worked at NBCUniversal Media as General Manager of Biggest Loser Digital, and they also held the same position at Endemol Shine North America. Currently, Gene is the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Digital at Shout! Studios, where they oversee digital, production, marketing, distribution, and corporate development.
Gene Pao has an MBA from Harvard Business School. Gene also holds a Master's Degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Climate Reality Leader from The Climate Reality Project in 2018 and completed a certification in Digital Rights Management and Audience Development from YouTube.
