Michalis Gkikas began their work experience in 2007 as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Crete, where they lectured and provided consulting for undergraduate students in the Department of Mathematics. Michalis then worked as an Applied Statistics and Mathematics Tutor from 2011 to 2013 while being self-employed. In 2015, Gkikas joined The Signal Group as a Junior Data Scientist and later moved on to various roles within the company, including Data Scientist, Head of Data Quality Assurance, Senior Technical Product Manager, and currently holds the position of Director Technical Product since February 2023.

Michalis Gkikas completed their Master of Science (MSc) in Pure Mathematics from the University of Crete from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mathematics from the same university from 2000 to 2007. In 2014, they obtained a Specialization Degree in Data Analysis & Business Analytics from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon.

In terms of additional certifications, Michalis obtained a certificate in "R Programming" from Coursera Verified Certificates in February 2015. Michalis also obtained a certificate in "The Data Scientist's Toolbox" from Coursera Verified Certificates in December 2014. Furthermore, they obtained a certificate in "Data Analysis & Business Analytics" from the University of Athens in February 2014.
