Andrew Shugard

Andrew Shugard is a Senior Staff Engineer in Applied R&D at Sila Nanotechnologies Inc. since August 2018, focusing on the development and production of next-generation battery materials and manufacturing technologies. Prior to this role, Andrew served as a Principal Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories from April 2001 to August 2018, where significant contributions included leading a $700k R&D project on hydrogen isotope storage and separation. Additionally, Andrew worked as a Materials Engineer for Toyota North America, specializing in thermoelectric materials, and gained research experience as a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of Colorado Boulder. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
