Sim Ooi has a diverse work experience spanning several companies. Sim started their career as a Graduate at BHP in 1993 and then moved on to various sales and marketing positions at BlueScope until 2005. Sim then held the roles of Senior Business Analyst at BlueScope from 2005 to 2006 and Vice President Sales at BlueScope Steel Malaysia from 2006 to 2008. Sim further served as General Manager Lysaght Guangzhou from 2008 to 2010 and President Lysaght China from 2010 to 2013 at BlueScope. In 2013, they joined Southern Steel Berhad as Chief Operating Officer until 2014. Sim Ooi then joined Aliaxis in 2014 as Managing Director-SEA until 2018. Currently, they are working at Sime Darby since 2018 and has held the positions of Managing Director - Mecomb Group from 2018 to 2020, Head - Allied Group of Companies from 2020 to 2022, and currently as Managing Director - KINETA.

Sim Ooi completed a Bachelor of Business degree from RMIT University between 1991 and 1994. In 2010, Sim also attended Melbourne Business School to study Executive Essentials.
