Valentina Marchetti is an accomplished scientist and educator with a robust background in biomedical research and academia. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University since March 2021 and a Senior Scientist at STEMCELL Technologies since March 2013, Valentina has a focus on transmembrane proteases and their roles in metabolic cues and the macrovascular complications of diabetes. Prior experience includes a Staff Scientist position at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" from June 2011 to March 2013, a Scientific Advisor role at Biotechnology Industries from March 2008 to June 2011, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at The Scripps Research Institute from January 2006 to June 2011. Valentina holds a PhD in Translational Medicine from the University of Rome Tor Vergata and a Master of Science in Biological and Physical Sciences from the University of Rome La Sapienza.
