Matthew Funk

Matthew Funk is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across multiple sectors. Currently serving as Manager of Cybersecurity Consulting at SimSpace since April 2023, Matthew has successfully transitioned a team into a group of international cyber defense consultants while managing client-facing professional services. Previous positions include Director of Cyber Threat at Mount Sinai Health System and Principal of Cybersecurity Threat at Optiv, where Matthew oversaw incident response for clients with a combined market capitalization exceeding $900 billion and provided strategic insights on cybersecurity compliance. Matthew has also held teaching roles in cybersecurity at Western Governors University and Strayer University, and has a significant background with the U.S. Cyber Command, leading defensive operations for national security. Matthew’s military career in the U.S. Army included senior management positions focusing on network and security operations. Academic qualifications include a CISO Executive Program from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Western Governors University.
