In addition, the company is currently developing the G4X™ Spatial Sequencer, an upgrade to the G4, which will leverage Singular’s proprietary sequencing technology, applying it as an in situ readout for transcriptomics, proteomics and fluorescent H&E in tissue, with spatial context. Our Headquarters are located on the Torrey Pines Mesa, in La Jolla, California at the center of the biotech hub. Our Manufacturing facility is in Sorrento Valley. This role is remote.

The Team and The Position  

The Software and Services team builds high-performance builds and the software stack that powers the G4® and G4X™ sequencers. You will be a Technical Lead responsible for the high-performance analysis pipeline at the core of sequencing software, encompassing our image processing, ML and data analysis workflow. 

What you will do:  

• Build high-performance computing pipelines for image processing, ML and other compute-intensive applications 
• Contributing as a Technical Lead, who also codes, you will work with a team of experienced developers and researchers to translate research code into robust, customer-facing applications 
• Make architectural trade-offs involved in building high-performance systems, and communicate and coordinate implementation within the team 
• Collaborate with scientific and bioinformatics teams to enable internal research activities and services on the G4 platform 
• Mentor junior members of the team, ensuring modern development, testing and documentation practices are followed 
• Debug complex system level issues, ensuring the reliability and performance of our analysis pipeline in the field 

Qualifications:  

• BSc or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field. 
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in HPC pipeline development, image processing, ML pipelines. Bioinformatic analysis and optimization are bonus.  
• Experience leading technical people and projects.
• Expert level Python, focused on reliable, robust and performant code. 
• Experience in C/C++, front-end, or GPU development and kernel optimization nice to have.  
• Experience with modern software engineering tools such as Git, CI/CD, and containerization, and modern SW development practices. 
• Demonstrated ability in algorithm development and optimization, have taken research code and translated into production level code. 
• Pragmatism, someone who can understand what they need to do and can get it done without getting distracted.

What any given day will entail: 

• Writing and delivering well-tested, performant code 
• Working with the development team to plan projects, ensure progress, plan future work, and break current work into individual development tasks 
• Refining the overall system architecture 
• Coordinating with product, scientific, and commercial teams to understand system and business constraints 

The estimated base salary range for this role based in the United States of America is: $172,900 - $232,500. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Should the level of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
