Mitchell Murdock began their work experience in 2002 at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, where they served as a Forester until 2007, and subsequently became a Senior Project Manager until 2012. In 2012, they joined the Chicago Park District as a Natural Areas Manager until 2013. Mitchell then joined site design group, ltd. in 2013 as a Consulting Arborist and Project Manager.

Mitchell Murdock obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. Mitchell later pursued a Master of Science degree in Landscape Design at Columbia University, attending from 2007 to 2008. In addition to their degrees, Murdock also earned a certification as a Certified Arborist from the International Society of Arboriculture in September 2005.
