Weiqi Xiao has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Weiqi began their career in 1991 as a Project Lead and Lecturer at the Database Developing Group of HUST. During this time, they worked on the development of an Object-Oriented Database and a Geographic Information System (GIS). Weiqi also designed and implemented Database Reporting and Graphing tools. Weiqi received multiple Hi-Tech awards and published numerous papers in various journals.
In 1994, Weiqi transitioned to the Database & Multimedia Institute at HUST, where they served as an Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering. Their responsibilities included conducting R&D on Multimedia and Database, as well as the design and implementation of a Network Banking System. Weiqi achieved significant recognition for their work, including a second-place nationwide award in China for RDBMS products. Weiqi published over 20 papers on diverse subjects, including DBMS internals, Unix kernel, Multi-media, Object management, and GIS.
In 1997, Weiqi joined Client-Server Computing Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer. Weiqi worked in this role until 1999 when they transitioned to Oracle as a Senior Member of Technical Staff. At Oracle, Weiqi contributed their expertise until 2001.
In 2001, Weiqi joined Skire, Inc. as a Senior Architect. Over the years, they took on various roles including Director of Engineering, Development Manager, and Principal Engineer.
Throughout their career, Weiqi has established a strong foundation in software development, architecture, and engineering. Their expertise in database systems, multimedia, and GIS has been recognized through various awards and publications.
Weiqi Xiao completed their Bachelor of Computer Science & Engineering degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1988. Their specialization was in Software. Weiqi then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Computer Science degree from the same university between 1989 and 1991. Their research during this period focused on Database Internal.
