Matthew Marcum has worked in various roles in the field of robotics since 2010. Matthew began their career as a Project Manager and Laboratory Technician at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2010. In 2014, they became a Mechanical Engineering Masters Student at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Matthew then worked as a Performance Engineer at Clyde Bergemann Power Group in 2015, followed by a role as a Robotics Software Engineer at General Dynamics Land Systems in 2016. In 2018, they were hired as a Robotics Software Engineer II at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. Most recently, they were hired as a Senior Robotics Engineer at Slip Robotics in 2022.
Matthew Marcum earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physics from Elon University between 2006 and 2010. Matthew then went on to obtain a Master of Science (M.S.) in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2012 and 2015. Additionally, they obtained a Biosafety Level Three Safety certification from Emory University in August 2012.
