Luca Pernie

Luca Pernie is a seasoned data science professional currently serving as the Sr. Director of Data Science & ML Engineering at SmartAsset since March 2021, following previous roles in the company as Director of Data Science & Analytics and Senior Data Scientist. Prior to SmartAsset, Luca held the position of Lead Data Scientist at FICO, contributing to the Falcon project, which focuses on real-time fraud detection for financial institutions. Earlier experience includes a postdoctoral researcher role at Texas A&M University, where participation in the CMS experiment at CERN involved studying proton-proton collisions, and a Ph.D. researcher position at Université libre de Bruxelles, examining electroweak processes in proton collisions. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Elementary Particle Physics from Université libre de Bruxelles, a Master's degree from Sapienza Università di Roma, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics.
