Sawyer Bovingdon

Sawyer Bovingdon is a Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering Intern at Smarter Alloys since May 2025. Previously, Bovingdon worked as a Mechatronics Engineer at Kraken Sense from May 2023 to April 2025, where responsibilities included leading the development of a biotech monitoring device and managing project timelines while coordinating cross-functional teams. Bovingdon served as Technical Lead/Mentor for FIRST Robotics Team 1334 from September 2017 to April 2023, overseeing the design and assembly of competition robots and establishing training programs for students. Additional experience includes roles at Swap Robotics, where Bovingdon was involved in robot assembly and testing, and as a Mechanical Designer and Cost Engineer at aPriori Technologies, focusing on component design and manufacturability analysis for aerospace and heavy industries. Bovingdon is pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, expected to graduate in April 2026.
