Winston F. Erevelles, PhD, is dean emeritus and professor of engineering at the School of Science, Engineering, and Technology at St. Mary’s University. During his 12-year tenure as dean, he led the development and enhancement of the school’s STEM education and research capabilities, community and industrial outreach, growth and reputation. Erevelles’ most-recent project is an Innovation Center with significant investments in advanced manufacturing. The building is slated for completion in early 2024. Previously, he served as the dean of the School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science and associate vice president for academic affairs at Robert Morris University; laboratory director and director of the Manufacturing Engineering Program at Kettering University; and a manufacturing engineer and plant manager at Mykron Engineers, India. Erevelles is the 2023 SME president-elect, serves as an adjunct accreditation director of engineering for ABET and is a member of the Leadership Advisory Council of the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind. His major awards include ABET Fellow (2015), Texas Diversity Council Diversity FIRST Award (2011), SME Education Award (2008), Carnegie Science Center Award for Excellence (2005) and the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award (1996). Erevelles earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Bangalore University, and master’s and doctoral degrees in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).
